TUI Group welcomes use of automated solutions to help travellers navigate COVID-19 requirements with confidence
Technology duo 15below and Sitata have partnered with TUI Group to enhance the tourism group’s digital customer experience with the industry’s first suite of COVID Solutions.
With the unending challenge of informing travellers of rapidly changing travel requirements, 15below and Sitata – technology companies with 20+ years’ experience in travel industry communications – are partnering with TUI Group to implement a range of automated solutions to help communicate effectively with its customers while removing the strain on operations.
15below and Sitata have deployed the Destination Discovery solution for TUI Group: Sitata’s travel map widget offers real-time travel information and restrictions for all destinations, giving TUI’s customers everything they need to make an informed decision about where to travel. The interactive map launched across TUI Group’s websites and apps on 6 August 2021.
Next to come are the 15below Pre-Departure Notifications. Communications sent from the TUI Group will be personalised with the latest travel information and sent directly to customers in the days leading up to their trip. These notifications ensure all travellers are prepared with personalised documentation and testing requirements, and other vital and nice-to-have information about their destination and return travel.

All travel information is provided in real-time, in multiple languages to support TUI Group’s brands across Europe, including TUI Fly, TUI Blue and First Choice. The solutions will enhance the customer experience across all digital touchpoints, including its websites and apps. By providing up-to-date information using artificial intelligence and machine learning, TUI customers will know what they need at every stage of their journey, improving the quality of the overall travel experience.

Sitata uses artificial intelligence and machine learning to track global travel disruptions or threats and was the first to launch a dedicated API for travel entry requirements. Since February of 2020, Sitata has been tracking changes across the globe to help travellers understand their entry requirements. With more than 300 daily updates, Sitata covers topics such as entry restrictions, if a COVID-19 test is required, or whether quarantine is enforced. The data also includes local concerns, such as if local restaurants are open or what social distancing measures are in place.
